WRDS concluded in presence of Rev Ac. Vishvadeva’nanda Avt. from 21 to 23 December at Madhumainjusha MG quarter Camp Office, Ranchi.
Representatives from all sectors were present and reported their Good news and Personal Report of Dharma Praca’r. Later SS read out all the Consolidated Reports of their respective sector and gave their proportionate reports and took target for six months.
The routine of RDS was started with Guru Sakash, Paincajanya and 3 hours Akhanda Kiirtan where all the workers present participated to enjoy the Spiritual atmosphere and doing their morning duties.
Classes were held to inspire the workers and our Rev Dada inspired all the workers that this coming decade will be very much in favor of Ananda Marga and we must be ready in all respects to guide the Globe for any solve any problems.
Rev Dada requested all Sectorial Secretaries to inspire departmental representatives to attend Junior and senior RDS.

Delhi Sector
Jaipur Region
To fulfill the long waiting demand of Márgiis of Jaipur, a very successful DMS was organized on 3-4th of October at the “Maheshvari Jan Upayogi Bhavan”, where Senior Purodha Ácárya Vishvadevánanda Avadhúta addressed the gathering of 5000 Márgiis who came from different parts of India. Excellent arrangements of lodging and food were made for the participants of the DMS. The event was well publicized via electronic media.
An impressive book stall was set up by Ánanda Márga, Kota Unit, during the annual book fair, which displayed Ánanda Márga literature, yoga charts, etc. Thousands of people visited our stall and came in contact with the Ánanda Márga philosophy. Many purchased books and learned yogic practices, with about 250 people learning meditation.
Good News of Jaipur Region:
DMS was conducted at Jaipur on 3 and 4th October, 2009. Nearly 4000 Sadhakas attended the Congregation.
RU program was held at Shekhawati Bhawan on 3rd October. Shrii Ghanshyam Joshi was the Chief Guest of the program.
The problems of Socio-economic Philosophy and its cure was the topic of the program in which 1000 people gathered.
Many luminary personality of the city attended the program.
30 Medical camps were held in six months nearly 7000 people got benefitted. Narayana Seva were held in Ahmedabad, Kota benefitting 5000.
On the occasion of Prabhata Samgiita Divas, Kaoshikii and Tandava Dance competition was organized in various places of Jaipur region and winners were honored.

Ganjam Diocese:
A medical camp was organized at Phoka village on 17th November in which 104 people were checked up freely and medicines were provided. Dr. Ravi Mishra, MD (Homeopathy), Government Medical Officer obliged to extend his Service for the tribal and needy population of the Gajapati district.
Another medical camp was organized in Phoka on the10th December, 2009 in which 31 people were treated by Ac Guniindrananda Avt.
The Construction work of Ananda Marga Jagriti at Birhampur is in progress. Recently the roofing was done costing work Rs 35,000/- only.
On 5th December 2009, the BDO of Hingalcut Block of Ganjan District which falls in the home constituency of Honourable Chief Minister Shrii Naveen Patnaik obliged to invite Ac Guniindrananda Avt Diocese Secy in the monthly review meeting of all headquarters of Primary and Upper Primary schools in the Block. In the meeting, the concept of Neo-humanistic educational principle was explained. The need of the moral and cardinal human values in educational curriculum was emphasized.
Dumka Diocese.
An LFT boy namely Ravi kumar who stays in Deoghar Ashram happened to meet an accident got severely injured on 28th November. The DS Dumka took tireless initiative to save his life and now he is alright.
Hoogly Diocese
At Champadanga, a Prabhat Samtiita Academy was started. Six inmates of the Academy also took participation in National RAWA ICON competition held at Ananda Nagar from 24th Dec to 29th Dec on the occasion of New Years DMS 2010.
Construction –
Nearly one lakh and sixteen thousand was spent in digging the tube well, a water tank and other constructions in the AMPS jagrti premises of Dhanbad.
Ranchi Region
Patna Circle

Kaos’ikii Divas was celebrated on 6th September at Ánanda Márga Middle School, Bhopal. Girl students of the school participated in kaos’ikii competition, which was widely publicized in daily newspapers, such as Dainik Bhaskar, Ráj Express, People’s Samáchár, Patriká, etc.

Patna Circle
Eye camp was organized at Jamalpur by AMURT on
5 December 2009. 300 patients were diagnosed and 70 patients were underwent eye operation. Dr. Vishnudev, Eye specialist attended the patients and distributed spectacles. Local news papers highlighted this service activity.
RAWA workshop was organized on 19th September at Ranchi. 400 artists participated in singing, dancing and acting section.
School building construction for Rs 12, 95,000 was done at Bhagalpur, Dharbhanga and Ranchi.
Saree, towel, dhoti, blankets etc were distributed at Saharsa, Madhepura and Supaul districts worth Rs 2.5 lakhs by AMURT, under the guidance of Ac Vardhaman Brc Dit.S Saharsa and Ac Satyashrayananda Avt Sectorial AMURT Secy.
Sports Day was celebrated on 14th November at Ananda Marga School, Laheri Sarai, Darbhanga. Ac Avanindrananda Avt, RS Ranchi was Chief Guest. Shrii Ram Naresh ji Bhukti Pradhan distributed the prizes to the winners.
Bhopal Diocese:
Childrens day was celebrated in Ananda Marga Middle School, Security line, Bhopal on 14th November. Shrii Ram Vilas Golas, social worker was Chief Guest of the program.
Antashari competition was also conducted on this day. Uniform were also distributed to poor students. Annual Sports meet was also organized on 17th to 19th December. Different events and games were conducted.
Gwalior Diocese:
Blankets worth Rs 4000/- were distributed by AMURT, Gwalior unit. Smt Meera Devi was Chief Guest on 29th November. Narayan Seva was organized to 50 persons on 29th November. Three hours Akhanda Kiirtan was held on 27th October at Murena. Many margi devotees and Public attended this Kiirtan. All leading Newspaper published the news.
Sagar
Construction work was constructed worth Rs 6.5 lakhs at AM High School, Sagar.
Mumbai Region
Our revered senior Purodha Ác. Vishvadevánanda Avt. had a short two day stay at Hyderabad. He was well received by hundreds of Márgiis. Dadajii delivered an impressive spiritual talk and after inaugurated the newly constructed building of five rooms in the AMPS Ashram. He also visited the Master Unit and the AM school (lady managed) at Mahaboob Nagar.
Good News of Mumbai Region
Our school children at Hyderabad snatched 1st and 2nd positions in District level “Drawing and Arts competition” held by State Govt of Andhra Pradesh. The news was published in local TV channels and News Paper during Children’s Day celebration.
A school building of five rooms costing 15 lakhs has been constructed at Hyderabad which was inaugurated by Revered PP Dadaji during his tour of South India on 15th October, 2009
A new Master Unity land of 10 acres is acquired costing 35 lakhs at Mantralayam in Kurnool district and is registered in name of the AMPS.
A colorful RU/RAWA program was held on 3rd November in Ghat Kopar, Mumbai. Chief Guest Shrii Ashok Singh of Rotary club Pawai, Mumbai inspired by RAWA activities promised to donate two computer educational equipments worth 1 lakh rupees.
Chief speaker Ac Savitananda Avt spoke on “Contribution of Shrii P.R.Sarkar towards Humanity”. Guest of honor Shrii Lalit Parmii elaborated his ideas on “Economic Freedom: of Shrii P.R.Sarkar and a musical drama “MUKTIMARGA” was staged by the RAWA artists which was highly appreciated by more than 500 spectators.
Relief: AMURT gave yeoman service to the victims of recent flood affected area of Andhra Pradesh. More than 60 lakh rupees were spent. The work was appreciated by Collector Hyderabad, Mehboobnagar and Kurnool and sent written appreciation letters to AMURT.
An annual cultural program of thane AMP School was attended by more than 300 spectators on 27/10/09.
A Sadhana Shivir in Asangaon Mumbai was attended by the more than 130 sadhakas.
Bangalore Region
A grand and successful DMS was organized on 10-11th of October at the Anna Community Hall, Ashok Pillar, Chennai. Ácárya Vishvadevánanda Avadhúta was well received by hundreds of márgiis from South India and delivered vibrant and inspiring spiritual talks. Forty-eight hours of akhanda kiirtana was organized, adding special spiritual bliss to the DMS gathering.

Gulbarga Diocese:
AMURT of Raichur unit of Gulbarga Dio under the guidance of Ac Manojitananda Avt (a team of 5 workers) distributed food, cloth among the flood affected area of Raichur District.
In Talamudi village, the team distributed Dhoti, Saree, Pants, Shirts, cloth for children, tooth brush, paste, soaps among 500 people.
In Manavi village, Devipur the team distributed Saree, Dhoti, Bedsheets, Blankets among 150 people.
Local Media highlighted our Service. With Great difficulty our volunteers have done service and received appreciation letter from Tahashildar, Deputy Collector of Raichur, Karnataka.
Ac Manojitananda gave a lecture on Yoga and Education in Vivekananda High School at Bengali camp no 4 of Sindhanoor of Raichur District. More than 300 children and 9 teachers attended the program and learnt basic meditation. They were also taught Yoga Asanas, Kaoshikii and Tandava.
Seminars were conducted successfully in Various places of the Region at Trivendrum, Coimbatore and Kolar. More than 100 persons took initiations and joined Marga and Marga activities.
Classes were very inspiring and lectures were given in different Educational Institutions, Bar association and Coaching Centre. Local media and Electronic media highlighted our activities.
In Bangalore, Ac Rathindrananda gave lecture on Yoga and Education at Sarjoa Memorial English School. More than 500 children and 16 teachers attended and were inspired to learn Kaoshikii and Tanadava Dance and requested Dada to conduct Yoga Asana Classes time to time.
Chennai Diocese:
With a great inspiration DMS program was conducted successfully at Chennai Anna Community Hall, Ashok Pillar Chennai on 10th, 11th of October by Chennai Bhukti. Our Rev PP Dada along with 50 Central and Sectorial workers arrived and inspired all the optees from South India.
48 hours Akhanda Kiirtan was organized by SDM and different stalls like publications, Pratika, Pratikriti were opened. Organization meetings were conducted.
RAWA program was organized for two days. Local artist performed dance based on Prabhat Samgiita.
Good News of Chandigarh Region:
Land registration of Diocese Headquarters at AM School, Bilaspur was registered as per system of AMPS.
A dance competition was organized on the occasion of Prabhat Samgiita Divas on 14th September at AM Jagriti, Gadaipur. Almost 150 participants were gathered to enjoy this cultural evening.
A program of free sweaters distribution was organized at Ananda Marga School, Amritsar. Almost 150 poor and needy children were benefitted by the tireless effort of Ac Vipulananda Avt.
A program of 200 blanket distribution will be done during New years DMS 2010 by the effort of Ac Vipulananda Avt for the poor villagers of Ananda Nagar.
A colourful cultural program was organized at AM School Shimla on 14 November. Vice Chancellor of Shimla University was the Chief Guest. Chief Guest was very inspired and honored the artist by distributing the prizes.

Meeting: The suggestion on Ideal Constitution based on PROUT was given to the District Bar Association in Narayanghat amongst 80 advocates, leaders of Political parties and social workers on 07/11/09.
A medical camp was held at Hetanda treated 20 patients by Acupuncture and Yoga on 20/11/09.
Three school meeting were conducted at Hetauda, Hatia, Kerra benefitting 400 students with Bio-Psychology and Yoga.
6 Participants winners from RAWA ICON 2009, Nepal are attending International RAWA workshop at Ananda Nagar from 24 to 27 December, 2009. They will present Cultural Program in DMS.

On dated 5th and 6th December, Ac Sarananda Avt and Ac Vimalananda Avt took classes during Sadhana shivir held at Allahabad and topic was on “Science of Yoga and Meditation”, “Food for thoughts” and “Benefit of Sadhana”?
There was 24 hours of Akhanda Kiirtan held and 500 leaflets were distributed and about 250 margiis participated in the Sadhana Shivir.
Haridwar Diocese:
A RAWA program was held on occasion of Prabhat samgiita Divas on 14th September in AM School, Haridwar. More than 120 persons gathered to enjoy the cultural evening.
Participants were honored for painting competition.
Hong Kong Sector:
Taiwan:
Hong Sector’s Autumn Conference was held at the beautiful Ananda Suruci Master Unit in Yujing, Taiwan, attended by over 250 Margiis and acaryas. The Central Representative Ac. Shantatmananda gave tremendous inspiration to all of the Margiis who attended.
The Sectorial Office is a beehive of activity with numerous weekly classes. These include 14 asanas classes, 2 Meditation classes, 2 Philosophy classes, 1 New People’s Dharmacakra, 2 Regular Dharmacakras and 2 Tattva Sabhas.
The National Taiwan University was the site for a PROUT Seminar that included a Skype Video Conference with Dr. Ravi Batra. Over 200 people attended the seminar. A second link-up with Dr. Batra occurred on November 7 at Tainan University attended by another 85 people.
On October 17th Ching Hai’s Master TV interviewed acaryas and Brother Cidatma in preparation for a documentary about Ananda Marga to be broadcast all over the world on their TV station.
Ananda Marga won warm appreciation from several senior citizens institutions in Taipei where Margiis and Acaryas have been visiting regularly as part of a weekly service program. This program involving 14 Margiis as well as local workers has plans to continue into all of 2010.
Mongolia:
The Governor General of Australia presented to Didi Ananda Kalika the Order of Australia award from the Australian government for her work with disadvantaged children in Mongolia. Didi appeared on national television following the award ceremony.
The Ching Hai organization also presented Didi with an award for her outstanding service work along with a $10,000 cash prize.
A 24-bed guesthouse for tourists (Yatri Nivas) was constructed in Ulaan Bator which will be an income generating project for the Home as well as provide employment opportunities for the older girls of the Home.
Russia:
Two hundred and forty-four people attended two regional conferences in Siberia and Far East Russia organized by RS Vladivostok Dada Dhiirendra. As a result two new AMS units were started in Nobosibirsk and Magnitagorsk.
A new meditation hall was constructed on our Master Unit Ananda Annapurna in Far East Russia which also hosted a weekend retreat for Margiis of Taezkha.
Massive Prachar efforts have taken place in Russia in the past six months in which 20 cities were covered including 5 new cities. Over 150 initiations have taken place during this period.
A new country was covered by Prachar called Kirgistan by Dada Sudhakar Brc with seminar, lecture and initiations.
Korea:
Dada Shubhacintananda’s Prabhat Sangeet concert at the Ching Hai conference was broadcast all over the world through their international TV station. A 7-day summer holiday camp invited Dadas Shubhacintananda and Bhavottarananda in which they taught meditation and yoga to over 15,000 children.
Japan:
The Revolutionary Marriage of Brother Cinmaya from Japan and sister Maniisha from Ranchi was covered by Indian newspapers and TV as well as Japan TV. The marriage ceremony was attended by 60 acaryas and 200 members of the public.
Manila Sector:
Dada Liilananda purchased the 448 square metre Jagrti in the heart of Jakarta, Indonesia at a cost of $US230,000.
Students from 37 Universities attended the Ananda Marga Youth Camp in Sungai Long, Malaysia on November 1.
Dada Parivratananda has constructed 33 toilets as part of a water and sanitation program for backward tribals in northern Thailand.
The annual Regional Conference held from Dec. 11-13 in our own Master Unit in Johor Bahru, Malaysia was attended by over 300 Margiis and acaryas
The ACB Board in Singapore organized a one day workshop on “How to do University Prachar” which benefitted the 22 Margiis who attended.
The Ananda Marga Wellness Centre is fully operational with 12 trained staff and a regular stream of local and international guests seeking permanent cures of illnesses using a natural method as outlined in the Yogic Cikitsa book of Baba. A Natural Foods Store will soon open in Cebu to complement the Wellness Centre as our activities gain widespread popularity amongst the general public.
Dada Rameshananda’s mobile library has been praised by civic society activists as an innovative way of helping street children seek a better life through education and culture.
Ác. Arnavánanda Avt.
has purchased a land of 1040 m2 in a very good location in Hanoi and paid 17,000 USD. The land will be used to build a Jagrti.
Ác. Prashanta Brc
. provided vaccination for Polio, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis B, DTP and MMR to 296 pregnant women and 1,776 children, covering 23 villages in Burma in the border area with Thailand.
New York Sector:
Baba’s devotees are spreading His Name and Fame worldwide.
Dr. Ravi Batra was selected as best Indian person by the North American Indian Association based in Montreal, Canada. Dr. Batra is recognized for his radical approach to economic prosperity based on the PROUT Teachings of P.R. Sarkar. Dr. Batra has had several media interviews, most notable within the economics segment of the National Public Radio (NPR) in the United States.
In the month of September, 11 representatives from Proutist Universal and AMURT/EL participated in the 62nd Annual Conference for NGOs of the United Nations Department of Public Information. The theme of this year was “For Peace and Development: Disarm Now!” Around 1,500 delegates from all over the world came to Mexico City for the event, which was inaugurated by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon.
In the event, about a thousand leaflets were distributed and hundreds of contacts exchanged with various civil society organizations of the whole world. AMURT and PU were invited to join the organizing committee of the World Youth Conference in Mexico in August, 2010, where 7,000 youth from 200 countries are expected to attend.
At a parallel event called “Transformation of the Human Spirit”, organized by the Soka Gakkai organization at the Mexican Senate, Ác. Pranesha Brc presented the book “Proutist Economics” in Spanish to the President of the Senate of the Mexican Republic, Mr. Carlos Navarrete Ruiz.
A day after the UN event, Proutists participated at the 1st Congress of the World Alliance to Transform the United Nations (WATUN). During the Congress, the Proutist delegates helped review and draft the final mission statement of WATUN, approved unanimously at the Congress. The reviewed mission statement now includes the respect and freedom to spiritual practices and cultural diversity in place of diversity of religious and cultural expressions. One Proutist delegate was elected as member of the provisional Council of the World Alliance to Transform the United Nations.
Dádá Shubhacetanánanda has made many contacts with reputed people at the University of Texas-Arlington(UTA), where he is taking classes, reporting and writing for the university daily paper, The Shorthorn. He met with famed political commentator and consultant David Gergen. He also met with local government representatives, several deans, journalists and media representatives, the Mayor of Arlington City and visiting Chinese consulate officials. PROUT books were introduced to many.
Tattvika Pashupati
conducts a yoga teachers training course in Raleigh, North Carolina. He also teaches yoga and meditation in the North Carolina prison system and his work has been highlighted in the local news media including a full half hour program on the Health Talk Now TV show.
Dada Prán´esha spoke to over 400 leaders of the Haitian diaspora and overseas workers in the country who participated at the Haitian Diaspora Unity Conference in Miami, where ex-president Bill Clinton and the Prime Minister of Haiti were the key speakers. Dada was invited to join the organizing committee of the next conference.
WWD (the Women’s Welfare Department) has established a multipurpose Center in Sabana Grande, near Managua, Nicaragua. The center offers a naturopathic clinic, health classes and yoga classes. In addition, gardening courses in cooperation with the U.N.’s Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) were recently held. A program distributing healthy, ecological and fuel efficient stoves was based at this center as well as an HIV education program.
GT Sector:
The Ministry of Education in Paraguay sponsored the 1st International Congress on Values, called “Life with Dignity and Education”, on October 14-15th of 2009, at the Universidad Americana in Asunción, led by the Vice Minister of Religions, Hugo Brítez Ibarra, who had been initiated. More than 1,000 people attended. Vice-President Frederico Franco and Minister of Education Dr. Luis Alberto Riart addressed the congress and later greeted each of the Ananda Marga Acaryas. Along with the leaders of major religions, Ananda Marga was given the highest respect by the conference organizers. Dada Paradevananda led a workshop called “Spirituality: The Base of Life”, assisted by Didi Sutanuka and Ác. Ratnánanda Avt., with more than 50 participants. He also led the closing ecumenical prayer to the entire plenary, beautifully explaining and then singing the Samgacchadhvam mantra. The workers were asked to sing kiirtan during a formal reception for the international visitors in the building of the national legislature.
Ac. Pranadiiptánanda Avt. reports from Brasilia that one regional retreat was held for 25 people. He also participated in the Interreligious Forum in Brasilia, during which he gave several workshops. He received a lot of attention and was well received there. Two local TV channels interviewed him.

Brother Niilakantha went for WT training and LFT Brother Vinayaka is assisting in the Sectorial office. Vinayaka visited London with SS Dada Krpamayananda and helped in the new pople’s retreat.
SS Dada also visited Sweden and attended ACB meeting in Stockholm. Many public talks and lectures were given in Library, High schools, and Public community places.

is busy renovating Madhu Karuna in preparation for DMS 2010. He has also been busy in Christmas festivals to finance the renovation work.

held a successful WRC camp with 21 cadres attending from Oct. 2 to Oct 4 at Madhu Karuna.
Roma Region:
Prachar and organizational work has been greatly strengthened in the past six months in Italy.
RS Dada Devavratananda Avt.
reports that the Ananda Vipasa master unit construction is completed by the collective effort of local margiis, the Master Unit ACB and rector Dada Kuinjavihari Brc.
Dada also reported that Seminars and IRSS were organised in three places.
Salorno : attendance 12 report given and targets taken for next 6 months

Rome : attendance 3 report given and targets taken for next 6 months
During this period Dada renewed AMPS units in Andria and Roma.
A RAWA concert held in Ananda Vipasa was attended by 50 people. A television interview was broadcast in Andria.
In the Salorno Unit Collective Meditation is held every Friday night for new people in 4 different places of Mezzolombardo, Salorno and Ora. It’s a very successful program with more than 80 new sadhakas and 23 initiations.
Study Circles
have been conducted, on the books Guide to a Human Conduct and Idea and Ideology. More than 20 margiis and sympathisers attended.
Bhukti retreats were held on September 28-29th in the middle of the Dolomites and on the Molveno Lake where 30 sadhakas attended together with RS Dada. A lot of positive feedback was received from new participants.
At Salorno unit, 2 seminars were held, one with Didi Ananda Harimaya and the last one with RS Dada Devavratananda. Almost 50 Margiis came from all the corners of Bolzano Bhukti and from Northern Italy.
Prague Region:
Brother Umesh organised a RAWA concert based on Prabhat Samgiita on 16 & 17 November in an art gallery in Krakow, Poland attended by over 400 people. Dada Vanditananda treated 150 patients with homeopathic medicine for swine flu.
After a mini cyclone that affected Ananda Puttabhumi Master Unit, 160 fallen trees were collected for firewood.
Amsterdam Region:
Ac Gatimayananda gave one hour talk on “Intuitional Practice and its Necessity” on Radio Merelyn from Holland on 22nd October, after which 25 attended his lecture.
The Amsterdam Regional Seminar was held in Timmern, Germany on October 16, 17 & 18 where 30 Margiis attended.
A journalist from a North Holland Newspaper interviewed Dada Gatimayananda and highlighted his pracar activities on the front page. The newspaper article mentions how important Asanas classes are for Intuitional Practice and all-round development.
Qahira Sector:
In Lebanon , the Sectorial Conference organised by Ác. Shantashubhánanda Avt. was a huge success with the attendance of 100 people. Newly graduated Acarya Shantimaya from Syria was an attraction at the conference and he reported that many young margiis and non-margiis showed interest in becoming WTs.

Kenya:
Kenya’s largest food retailer, Uchumi placed a huge billboard at the Westlands branch that depicted Dada Shubhavratananda (EI-1) and Dada Jagat Mitra doing service work for the poor children.
Dada Shubavratananda’s new 5 acre MU Land in Kikuyu, about 26 kms. out of Nairobi received a 30 million KSH donation ($US400, 000) for the construction of a multi-purpose service project that will include a children’s home, a school, Health clinic and Rehabilitation for the Handicapped. Construction is expected to start in January.
All of the salaries of the 32 staff working for Ananda Marga’s projects in Mombasa will be donated for the year 2010 by the Union of Kenyan Security and Police Forces who receive daily self-defense training from DS Mombasa, Dada Jayamaungalananda. The total amount of the donation is Ksh. 450,000 or $US 6,000. Another donation of $US1,500 has been donated by another group of multi-national security officers who also receive martial arts training from DS Mombasa. Their donation will pay all of the taxes and other school charges for the Ananda Marga pre and primary school of 300 children.
A street procession taken out by the 22 graduates of our Kimbo primary school in Nairobi was watched with great interest by 1000 local residents. One thousand School calendars of the Ananda Marga Academy were printed and distributed to the onlookers.
The new Ananda Marga Children’s Home building has been completed in Nairobi. The two-storey building has 6 rooms, a toilet block and modern kitchen facilities for the 21 children of the Nairobi Boys’ Home.
Our new 3.5 acre plot of land in Njiru, Kenya has now been fenced and a small one room temporary building has been constructed in preparation for large-scale construction in the new year.
A sympathizer performed Narayan Seva for 300 children of Mbuyikiwete village, on Dec. 22 at AMSAI’s lady-managed school in Mombasa. Each child received a pair of slippers, sweets and fruits and were treated with a magic show.
Tanzania:
The Ananda Marga Primary Health Clinic and Dispensary was opened in December at our land in the Kimymwezi Pugu area, 30 kms. from the capital city, Dar Es Salaam.
Uganda:
The Ugandan Immigration Dept. praised the work of Ananda Marga at the annual meeting of the Indian Association. They said that Ananda Marga should be commended for their sacrificing spirit to work in distant rural areas to educate the children.
South Africa:
Regular Narayan Seva is going on every week for 30 poor children of the townships in Cape Town.
A new roof is replacing the old roof in our Office at Ananda Jayanti, Orange Farm, South Africa.
Zambia:
Our pre and primary school with 93 children was registered with the Lusaka City Council. An ETC with 5 new teachers and 1 new LFT was held from Dec. 28-30. A new classroom for Grade 3 children has been constructed as the school expands its classrooms to become a fully-fledged primary school.
Congo:
We have two pre schools running, one in Brazzaville with 300 children in our owned building and the other in Pointe Noire with 300 kids in a rented building. We recently bought 3 ha land near Brazzaville for the purpose of farming.
Ghana:
Two private media production companies in Accra, High Seas Productions and Legendary Productions approached Ananda Marga to bring yoga instruction on TV. The target is TV3, Ghana’s 2nd most popular network. The pilot filming was done with a team of Margiis and is being edited for the TV show.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Ananda Marga and the District Chief Executive (DCE) of West Gonja District in Northern Region, Ghana. The document gives the community of Daboya an ideal building to use as a library, computer centre and an internet cafe; and approves plans to establish a weekly market center. Ananda Marga will assist the people of Daboya to refurbish the building and source books, computers, as well as find sponsors to construct the market centre.
Burkina Faso
Village theatre was presented to 650 people in the three main villages of Deou District, northern Burkina Faso: Déou, Boulikessi and Gandafabou, where theatre is hardly ever witnessed. Following three days of intensive training by volunteer actors in the Sahel’s 45° weather the troupe was ready to perform the theatre forum. The play included dancing and African drum music. The theme centered around appropriate behavior and how to access reliable information and assistance regarding HIV and AIDS illnesses. Audience feedback was easily elicited with the help of a local facilitator. Moral issues were clarified and humane values upheld by the villagers themselves after a lot of lively debate! Local health officials clarified how the people may access free AIDS screening services and safe medicines instead of depending upon untrustworthy medicines from local drug sellers.
Village coordinator had this to say about the outcome: “Everyone felt that there was a real endeavor from the villagers to improve their lives. We actually got a lot of encouragement from them and the officials to carry on our new mission of consciousness-raising in such a practical way. Thanks to the work of our newly born theatre troupe and their willingness to do something fun and instructive.”
