Acarya Shubhacetanananda Avadhuta (whom we affectionately call “Dada” or “elder brother”) is a spiritual minister and yogic monk of Ananda Marga (The Path of Bliss). He is a Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500) and Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP) with the Yoga Alliance. He has been practicing meditation since 1982, when he learned the mystic techniques of meditation for self-realization from the highly revered Guru Shrii Shrii Anandamurti in India.
By becoming a monk with Ananda Marga, Dada was choosing to dedicate his life to the service of humanity. This meant working in various places around the world. He has been teaching yoga and meditation for 30 years. His first assignment outside of India was to the United States, where he worked for 15 years and attended university, eventually earning a Master of Journalism from the University of North Texas. Dada was also very busy with different social service works, such as teaching yoga classes, fundraising for needy people, offering workshops and seminars, volunteering with nonprofit organizations and providing free counseling services to the community. Most recently, he has moved to Malta where he plans to continue serving the community.
He also traveled to different parts of the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Nepal, Dubai, Croatia, Cyprus and India and has given seminars and workshops to propagate the science of meditation and yoga asanas. Dada has been a strict vegetarian since birth. He has appeared on radio, television and written in several newspapers.
