Ashtanga Yoga, the eight limbs of yoga are

1. Yama – Ethical principles focused on actions (particularly related to others)
2. Niyama – Ethical principles focused on self-discipline
3. Asanas – The physical poses (commonly thought of as “yoga”)
4. Pranayama – Breathing exercises designed for mental development
5. Pratyahara – Withdrawal of the mind and senses
6. Dharana – Purification and development of the chakras
7. Dhyana – Deep concentration
8. Samadhi – A state of spiritual bliss and oneness with the Supreme Consciousness
